Social Spaces

Image shows an open bottle of champagne and two glasses full of bubbles on a glass table with a small purple decorative plant. Behind are chairs and a flower planter. The image is taken on the terrace of The Holt at Church Stretton and the photo shows the terrace fencing and then picturesque views of trees and rolling hills of The Long Mynd in the distance.

The Holt is a spacious holiday cottage with plenty of room (and chairs!) to socialise and relax.

  • A large living and dining room with a range of seating and tables
  • A large kitchen diner with table and chairs
  • A terrace with table and chairs, a barbecue and views over the hills.

Living and Dining Room

There is a large living room containing an extendable dining table, along with ample comfy seating adjacent to a huge picture window.

The living room has a door directly on to the terrace.

There is a Smart TV with Freesat and access to YouTube, iPlayer and Netflix etc, plus a DVD player for your use – if you can tear yourself away from the views! In addition to the house heating there is a living flame gas fire to warm you up after a cold day’s walk in winter.

Kitchen Diner

The Holt has a large kitchen-diner with French doors to the terrace and large picture windows. The table (pictured) can be extended or made smaller to seat between 4 and 8 guests for breakfast or a quick lunch, in addition to the larger dining table in the living room.

The kitchen was purpose fitted with holiday guests’ comfort in mind, with a gas hob, electric double oven, dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer and all the crockery and equipment you are likely to need to make your holiday special. You can find an overview of the equipment provided on the Facilities for Guests page and a kitchen inventory that you can download so you know what to pack (and what not to pack).

Terrace and Gardens

The terrace is accessible from both the living room and kitchen. There is space for plenty of chairs around the large table, and a barbecue for guests to use.

We have provided picnic crockery and glasses if you wish to use it outside - some guests with children find it more comfortable to not use breakable crockery on a hard floor - they can be found in the utility cupboard.

The garden is sloping and full of mature trees and flower beds. It is robust and children (and dogs) can play in it without fear of damaging anything. There is security fencing around the perimeter but young children and dogs which can jump high should be supervised as the fencing is not high. We hope you will enjoy the garden space and the views.
