March 2026 Update: We are no longer taking bookings at The Holt as after fifteen lovely years of hosting wonderful guests, it is time to move on.
If you know someone who would love to live in a house so idyllic that people come back year after year for their holidays, The Holt is now for sale with Miller Evans estate agents.
We would like to thank all of our past guests who have made this experience so rewarding, especially the guests who have come back many times and shared their family updates and kind reviews with us over the years. We have loved sharing The Holt with you.
Social Spaces

The Holt is a spacious holiday cottage with plenty of room (and chairs!) to socialise and relax.
Living and Dining Room
There is a large living room containing an extendable dining table, along with ample comfy seating adjacent to a huge picture window.
The living room has a door directly on to the terrace.
There is a Smart TV with Freesat and access to YouTube, iPlayer and Netflix etc, plus a DVD player for your use – if you can tear yourself away from the views! In addition to the house heating there is a living flame gas fire to warm you up after a cold day’s walk in winter.
Kitchen Diner
The Holt has a large kitchen-diner with French doors to the terrace and large picture windows. The table (pictured) can be extended or made smaller to seat between 4 and 8 guests for breakfast or a quick lunch, in addition to the larger dining table in the living room.
The kitchen was purpose fitted with holiday guests’ comfort in mind, with a gas hob, electric double oven, dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer and all the crockery and equipment you are likely to need to make your holiday special. You can find an overview of the equipment provided on the Facilities for Guests page and a kitchen inventory that you can download so you know what to pack (and what not to pack).

Here is the garden in our spacious holiday cottage
Terrace and Gardens
The terrace is accessible from both the living room and kitchen. There is space for plenty of chairs around the large table, and a barbecue for guests to use.
We have provided picnic crockery and glasses if you wish to use it outside - some guests with children find it more comfortable to not use breakable crockery on a hard floor - they can be found in the utility cupboard.
The garden is sloping and full of mature trees and flower beds. It is robust and children (and dogs) can play in it without fear of damaging anything. There is security fencing around the perimeter but it is low wire fencing to preserve the natural look and therefore young children and dogs must be supervised as at times. We hope you will enjoy the garden space and the views.
Some of our previous guests post pictures on our facebook page of them relaxing in our social spaces here
